  1. What about the fact that it also impedes circulation to the foot over night. I tend to sometimes need to wear a patella stabilizing brace over night. Mine has strapping to tighten the patella ring for day time. But I don’t use them at night. What I wish is that there was a brace with the patellar support that can stay in place without real compression so as to cause pooling in the ankles for older wearers.

  2. Does anybody know what that pulling like a shocking sensation I get in the back of my knee, more as of when I first stand up no matter how long I’ve been sitting and it pops and it hurts really bad like a rubber band that snapped on your skin??

    1. I had that years ago, standing up from sitting caused so much pain that I yelled out every time I stood up. I went to my doctor and was sent for an x-ray. Osteoarthritis was diagnosed and I got some physiotherapy and was givebn a walking sitick and pain meds. It has never gone away, but now has spread to my other knee, my hips and my fingers. My advice is to see your doctor, as this could be the start of a chronic condition.

  3. My general practice doctor told me to buy a knee brace and wear it. I have only wore it one day I don’t know if I can wear it tonight. I have an appointment in one week with orthopedic doctor.
    This brace is a little stiff and rough feeling.

  4. Not aware of any special knee braces for night time Heather; however there are many light weight models which might suit that requirement depending of course on the severity of the user’s condition.
    My brace is extremely bulky and causes great discomfort and I need to have it on almost permanently due to a recent rupture operation.
    Try a Google search along the lines of “lightweight knee brace” – there are a wide range of models many of which are reasonably priced – this can at least give you some ideas- your physio may be able to provide better advice than your doctor on this.

  5. I had a bilateral knee fracture (12 days ago) and was given “temporary” knee braces in emergency room before being released to a post acute care facility for 7 days. Received PT but not fitted with proper braces until ortho appointment two days ago. I noticed my pain level was drastically reduced with proper braces. The braces will take getting used to. Sleeping is an issue. I won’t wear them in bed. Against doctor’s orders but need to sleep so as to heal!
